Saturday 17th May, 10-12 noon, Launch Event for Headington & Marston Art Weeks, Venue: Car Park behind Barclays Bank and Headington Central Crossroads (OX3 9AH, London Rd/Old High St)

Theme “Heads of Headington”. Make a portrait of your best friend / family member / neighbour / celebrity, using drawing, chalking, painting, puppet making, or clay. Make yourself a crown, an origami hat, have your face painted. Have a go at rag rugging, mosaics, knitting, and many more activities

Barclays Bank, Headington

Barclays Bank in Headington again played host to a pop-up art show today previewing Headington Artists.


This time the artists were all students from Oxford Brookes University who will be showing works at their Degree Show from 9th to 16th May

PREVIEW for PLAY

PREVIEW is a guerilla exhibition of works made by Oxford Brookes Fine Art students in preparation for PLAY (9th - 16th May 2014).

Eleven emerging artists will be at Barclays Bank in Headington from 9.30am - 4.30pm this coming Monday 24th March to offer a glimpse behind the scenes of what will be one of the biggest degree shows in Brookes history, with a total of forty-five artists exhibiting together at once in May. Join Emma Mayoux-Andrews, Emma Read, Kate Spencer, Vicki Clampitt, John Taylor, Susan Thompson, Daisy Webb, Tim Wait, Samantha Ball, Gilbert Howkins and Jean Wykes for an exclusive preview of the future contemporary art scene.

PREVIEW is supported by Headington Artweeks, which opens with an art festival on 17th May at Barclay's Bank and features artists (including Brookes students) demonstrating their work.

Art at the Bank

On Monday 24th March there will be another opportunity to see work from Headington artists at Barclays Bank in Headington.

From 9:30 until 16:30 there will be a pop-up display at the bank, where Oxford Brookes Degree Show students will be showcasing their work.

If you are in the area come and have a look at the work - and then have coffee at Coco Noir where there is a continuing display of work from Headington artists.

Both of these displays are a taster of the work that will be on show during Headington Artweeks, from 17th to 26th May 2014.

A showcase of pupils work, using reclaimed materials, for the Oxford 'Refashion' event.

Oxford Brookes Degree Show

Oxford Brookes Degree Show 2014 will be showcasing the work of 3rd year graduates from the Fine Art course. This is an exiting opportunity to view varied works from 47 interesting individuals who are passionate about art. This is the culmination of three years of hard work for all of those involved and as such will be a vibrant and stimulating exhibition containing a fantastic selection of varied submissions. Opening night (9th May 2014) will involve drinks and a guest speaker.

Harriet Eagle, Nicola Jenkin and Rebecca Harkin

Harriet Eagle, Nicola Jenkin and Rebecca Harkin are exhibiting a collection of paintings, drawings and prints inspired by artists and friends.

Alison Pearson

Alison is a member of the Art at St Andrew's Group at Artweeks.

She is a textile artist whose work utilises a variety of techniques, including patchwork, applique and collage.


Ewa Exley

Ewa is a member of the Art at St Andrew's Group at Artweeks.

She works with textiles - hand made felt, pleated silk, wall hangings, scarves, hats and bags.

Anne Hobbs

Ann is a member of the Art at St Andrew's Group at Artweeks.

She has produced a collection of works including screen prints, pewter and mixed media. Inspired by Old Headington, preservation and the environment.

Meiso Lai

Meiso Lai is a contemporary mixed media artist. She uses different techniques and materials including; photographic prints on glass, textiles hanging with hand stitching on paper, and mixed media on canvas. She takes inspiration from her travels around the world and nature is the main theme of her work.

Jane Strother

Landscape towards abstraction. Watery paintings; pools, estuaries, coastal margins and more.... Large oils on canvas, a range of oils and acrylics in all sizes and mixed media work including drypoint and chine colle.
