Art at St.Andrew’s is back! This year’s exhibition in the church room includes five artists who will be showing here for the first time. We welcome:

  • Anne Hobbs showing a collection of works including screen prints, pewter and mixed media. Inspired by Old Headington, preservation and the environment;
  • Elizabeth Wyatt, silver jewellery inspired by the relationship between memory and objects, and laser cut unique designs;
  • Ewa Exley, a textiles artist working in hand made felt, pleated silk making wall hangings, scarves, hats and bags;
  • Ruth Dodd whose ceramic works are based on organic forms and domestic stone wear pots;
  • Zoe Robinson, a painter and sculptor showing beautiful dog and cat portraits painted in acrylics.

Returning artists are:

  • Alison Pearson, a textile artist whose work utilises a variety of techniques, including patchwork, applique and collage;
  • Rosemary Earl with a selection of her paintings on display at the back of church.

In church, there will be

  • church vestments on view;
  • information about Sewtogether, a sewing group that meets monthly in church;
  • Kerstin’s ‘Puppet Tales’ and puppet making drop in sessions (see below for more details) and
  • demonstrations of free machine embroidery.

As a 'thank you' from the artists, our fundraiser for church this year will be 'Guess the Number of Pins in the Box'. The winner will receive a hamper of 'crafty goodies' donated by each artist.

Artweeks is growing in Headington with a variety of events and more artists’ exhibitions. To encourage visitors to all the sites in Headington, local artists have organised a ‘Hunt the Kitty Cat’ trail competition around most of the venues. The first prize for the most cats found is a Two Course Meal for four at the Butchers’ Arms in Headington. Please take the Headington and Marston trail maps so you can see who else is exhibiting in our area.

Finally, there will be items for sale, refreshments, opportunities to chat with exhibitors and make new friends. See you there!
